Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft Corp., experienced a significant 63% increase in his pay package compared to last year. For the financial year 2024, Nadella received a compensation package totaling ₹656.53 crore. This substantial rise can be attributed to his stock awards, set against the backdrop of Microsoft reaching a remarkable $3 trillion valuation. Over the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, Microsoft shares rose approximately 31.2%.
In the tech industry, the highest-paid CEO remains Elon Musk, whose annual compensation package amounts to $23.5 billion, according to a report by Northwest Education. Nadella ranks eighth with an annual package of $309.4 million.
Additionally, Amy Hood, the Chief Financial Officer, saw her compensation package grow by 30%, bringing her total income to ₹214.14 crore. Meanwhile, Brad Smith, the President, received a 29% increase, resulting in a total pay of ₹194.22 crore.
According to a filing by Microsoft's board compensation committee, Nadella would have earned about ₹41.5 crore more had he not requested a pay cut to "reflect his accountability" for the company's measures addressing cybersecurity risks. The committee praised Nadella’s leadership, stating, “The board reviewed the company's performance and strongly believes that Mr. Nadella provided exceptional leadership and was critical in achieving the company's strong performance while personally overseeing the ongoing realignment of its investments and priorities.”
